Part1, Clarify which changes are accepted into OCK
Since its founding, OpenCloudOS-Kernel (hereafter OCK) has always welcomed
and encouraged partners to submit PRs for bug fixes and new features, and
will continue to treat every submission with an open and responsive
attitude.
With the rapid advance of AI, however, a new tension is emerging: AI is
becoming ever more efficient at automatically spotting suspicious issues,
generating patches and filing PRs, while its ability to automatically
review patches is still limited — patch quality still has to be judged by
humans, and both before and after a patch is merged we need to develop
matching test cases and run stress tests.
In other words, AI has greatly scaled up the "production side" of PRs
without scaling up the "acceptance side" to the same degree. PRs
mass-produced by AI consume exactly the limited manpower that OCK has.
For this reason, OCK asks community partners to give priority to PRs that
fix functional problems, improve performance, or add new features, and to
refrain from submitting PRs mass-produced by AI.
Thank you to every partner for your interest in and contributions to
OpenCloudOS-Kernel. We share the same goal: with limited manpower, keep
OCK evolving continuously and healthily, without compromising stability.
Part2, Linux kernel
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use make htmldocs ormake pdfdocs. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
